Wheelchair accessible in the city of Werne
Association in formation
Together for an inclusive society!
Break down barriers – get involved!
Job opening for two projects:
Become part of the accessibility initiative in Werne

We're looking for you! (Yes, you!)
Do you want to tackle a real problem in our city? Would you like to help people with disabilities enjoy their leisure time, for example, without having to worry about a lack of toilets? Then you've come to the right place! We're founding the association "Wheelchair Accessible in the City of Werne" and are looking for committed people who want to make a real difference with us. Whether it's restaurants, doctor's offices, or educational institutions – we're committed to accessibility in all public spaces.
What we want to achieve:
🚽 More accessible restrooms for Werne
No one should have to wonder where the nearest usable restroom is before strolling through town.
🍽️ Promoting accessible restaurants
We help restaurateurs with renovations – with advice, networking, and financial support.
💰 Donations for renovation costs
We work with foundations, authorities, and organizations to provide targeted funding and enable accessible projects.
🛠️ Consulting & Implementation
We advise public and private stakeholders and support construction projects – from the initial idea to implementation. The measures must serve the public and be carried out according to applicable standards (e.g., DIN 18040).
📚 Awareness-raising & public relations
We provide information through events, information evenings, materials, and campaigns – and demonstrate that inclusion affects us all.
🧾 Legally compliant & non-profit
Our projects comply with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Federal Disability Equality Act (BGG), and building regulations (e.g., the North Rhine-Westphalia Building Code). We operate exclusively on a non-profit, transparent, and purpose-bound basis.
Who we are looking for:
👥 Board members (volunteer) Take on responsibility, contribute ideas, and help us build networks and advance accessibility in Werne.
🙋♀️ Dedicated colleagues Support us with public relations, events, or contact with restaurateurs, developers, and authorities.
💡 People with heart, humor, and drive Don't just want to complain, but want to get things done? Then you've come to the right place!
🌍 People from the entire Unna district are also welcome! We're currently launching in the city of Werne, but we're already planning to expand our projects to the entire Unna district.
Your benefits at a glance:
✅ You'll change the city for the better – and later be able to proudly say: "I helped make that possible!"
✅ You'll actively shape a more inclusive society – and set new standards for accessibility, e.g., in the hospitality industry.
✅ You'll become part of a committed and dynamic team – we take this seriously, but not ourselves!
✅ You'll meet interesting people – and network with like-minded individuals, affected individuals, specialist agencies, and supporters from the region.
✅ You'll gain valuable experience and contacts – a great opportunity for professional and personal development.
✅ You'll further develop your skills – whether in communication, organization, or project management.
✅ You'll make a real contribution to society – and directly help to noticeably improve the lives of many people.
✅ You'll become visible – your commitment inspires others, and makes a difference.
✅ You'll collect... endless karma points! 😉 – If the universe counts, you'll be right at the top!
